Behavioural economics is a step change...

Last week saw Crawford Hollingworth, Founder at The Behavioural Architects, speaking on one of the key panels at the ESOMAR Live Congress 2013 on how the behavioural sciences can help market research and generate a business advantage.

The panellists tackled the question: "Twice as old but one-tenth the size of management consulting - How can market research 'Think BIG' and imagine how to drive business advantage and exponential growth in the industry?"

In the session, Crawford argued that:

- Behavioural economics is a step change in connecting the research world more clearly to business growth and value creation

- Behaviourally led research made a clearer connection to the financial bottom line and thus got research into the boardroom

- The Behavioural Architects are not in the research business but in the behavioural change business. Rather than say who we are, we need to emphasise what we do and the value we create.

Another panellist, John Hackett, Senior VP of Global Marketing and Commercial Leadership Business Services of Coca-Cola, also stressed how if research wants higher revenues, then it needs to follow through in actions. The session was moderated by John Kearon, Chief Juicer, Brainjuicer. More details on this panel session and ESOMAR Live Congress 2013 here.
