Building a more caring world

How might we build a more caring, responsive world?

Our latest article in Impact magazine, “Building a more caring world” explores how empathy can motivate us to respond to others’ needs and behave more prosocially, and more specifically, how to leverage empathy as a tool to create behavioural change.

We explore prosocial behaviour - voluntary behaviour that benefits others and that may involve a personal cost. It can range from charitable donations, lending money, getting vaccinated, or, during the current era, physical distancing, mask-wearing and hand washing.

As you are well aware, leaders and public health experts are urgently trying to motivate people to go beyond their personal preferences and think more prosocially to help protect each other from COVID-19 and from its indirect effects, the survival of small businesses and the mental health of our loved ones to name a few. Empathy and simple kindness are essential, powerful tools of national recovery.

Our article explores the different ways prosocial framing has been used in studies on vaccinations and hand washing in healthcare settings, all very topical!

So, ready to join us in building a more caring world together?
